MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Have a super weekend!!!!!  Merry Christmas to all of you!!!!!!

11/23/16 Happy Thanksgiving

Good morning!  We have nearly everyone back home!  Crews were showing up around home yesterday as they were coming home from Canada and Iowa.  Harvesting is officially over for 2016!  There's still a lot of equipment movement and cleanup to do but the field work is complete.

American Harvest Episodes

Good morning.  For some good custom harvesting video please follow the American Harvest at the following website: http://bit.ly/AmericanHarvest2EP3 or you can follow the episodes on Facebook and https://www.facebook.com/CarbonTV.

10/17/16 Good start on corn

Good morning.  With the exception of some low wet spots, we are done with beans and sunflowers around home.   We got a good start on corn over the weekend around home as well.

10/5/2016 Snow in Canada

9000 acres of canola and wheat left to combine and there is snow in Canada. Jake came home so his wife could keep him warm as long as it was snowing and wet. :). Lieb and Kyle are moved to Gregory and got started on beans today after rain yesterday. Nico's crew finished popcorn and now have moved on to beans. Filled the bunkers at the feedlot with wet corn and finished in the rain last night. Ron and Jandre's milo harvest got shut down yesterday in the rain and hopefully will get going tonight again. We got an inch of rain at home so it halted sunflower and bean harvest until Saturday. We could use a few more CDL truck drivers for fall harvest if anyone is interested contact us. And most importantly if anyone needs a driver for a late model I am free most nights. I am going to spend the night sitting by the fire with my wife so don't call me lol. Chad

09/28/2016 Fall Harvest Update

Sorry we haven't been updating this lately. It has been a busy time with combines and trucks moving around the country. Jake and his crew are still in Canada. They have had a lot of weather delays but are rolling and hopefully will be done in two to three weeks. Kyle and Lieb and their crews are in Presho, SD right now harvesting soybeans. Ron also has a crew in Presho cutting an excellent milo crop. Nico is in charge of his first crew and they are harvesting popcorn which is a first for OCF. AJ got his crew rolling today in the Redwood Falls area combining soybeans after a wet last week. Everyone else's crews are back in Hendricks harvesting beans on our farm. They are harvesting excellent soybeans and hopefully starting on sunflowers on Friday. For the first time we are planting winter rye on our farm and James should be done planting that by tomorrow night. It has also been very busy at the feedlot where they are chopping corn and filling the new bunkers. All the truckers have been busy hauling cattle to Dodge City, Kansas and hauling soybeans off the combines. Hope you are having a good start to the fall. Happy Harvest!

08/11/16 Hail in North Dakota

August seems to be flying by and the OCF crews are keeping busy as always.  Chris' crew in Richardton,ND had baseball sized hail Wednesday night. Luckily we will still cut the wheat crop with only 30% damage and a new windshield and body work on his pickup.  Jake and his crew will move into Canada by Monday.  They will hopefully start by the middle of next week.  Luke and some of his guys will be finishing in Mott, ND in a week.  The crop has been poor in this area.  Kyle and his crew moved to Bisbee, ND today to start our last job in ND.  AJ and his guys are in Hebron, ND and making progress everyday.

08/08/16 John Deere Classic week!

Good morning! It's the week of the PGA Tour's John Deere Classic! Along with some family and friends, I will be in Moline, IL all week! Looking forward to watching some great golf and meeting up with some people we work with at Deere & Co. So I'm sure the week will be mostly business related! 😄 Have a great week!! Travis

08/01/16 Moving On

Sorry I haven't added any posts lately. The Lincoln County Fair was last week so it was a busy and fun time. Our kids and the Nibbe kids had a successful and memorable fair. It is fun to see them grow and become more confident in their animals and projects. We are strong supporters of 4H. As for the harvest crew, they are all finished in South Dakota and busy moving north to the Mott and Richardton, ND area. We are hoping for safe and successful North Dakota stops. Have a great Monday. If you don't see a post for a few days I am lost in the mounds of laundry from the fair. :). Pam.

07/22/16 End of SD Winter Wheat

If all goes well winter wheat will be gone tonight in SD. It's still 100+ degree weather but that is typical for harvest. All the kids are getting excited for county fair next week. It is another busy time of the year. Can't believe it is the end of July already! Have a great weekend! Pam.

07/20/16 Post #2

It's great to have some posts on the tour diary from Chad's wife, Pam!  I think his daughters will be making some posts as well which will be fun.

07/20/16 First Time

4:30 p.m. - First time in 25 years of harvest we quit because of the heat. It was too hot for the guys dumping trucks. Hope you all are staying safe and cool!

07/20/16 South Dakota Scoop

Happy Wednesday! AJ's crew that is west of Fort Pierre has finished up the winter wheat and is moving onto the spring wheat today. Leib and Jason's crew in Gregory should get done on Friday with a great winter wheat crop. Kyle and Armand's crew finished their job in Presho and will be moving on to ND by the weekend. They will be cutting peas there. Jake and Luke's crews should finish our large job west of Fort Pierre on Sunday or Monday depending on the heat. The bins are full so they have been bagging the wheat. The high temperatures make it a more challenging job for the guys doing the bagging. Chad was driving to the field today getting advice on marriage from Jandre who will be getting married to Mary in February. Hopefully Chad was listening and learning! Have a great day! Stay cool! Pam

07/18/2016 Harvest News

I have decided to take a turn at this website diary. The crew has been busy and we have been lucky to have great people working with us. Chad has said the temps are 100 plus in Pierre. They should finish winter wheat in the Pierre area this week. One crew will start peas in Mott, ND by the weekend. Some of our rental combines will start winter wheat in ND this week. The yields have been above average in South Dakota. Have a great week- stay cool! Supposed to be warm in Minnesota too. Pam

07/15/16 Good harvesting week

Good morning.  It's been a great week of cutting in South Dakota.  All of the crews are cutting nice wheat and the weather, for the most part, has been cooperating.  There's not much rain forecasted in the next 10 days so it should be some great harvest days ahead.

07/08/16 Back to cutting

After a few rain showers in the middle of SD, they guys are back to cutting!

07/7/16 Rain in Pierre

Good morning.  Chad said they got about an inch of rain around Pierre last night so who knows when they'll get going again.  The forecast looks warm so I'm sure it won't be too long.

07/06/16 Good start in South Dakota

Good morning. It sounds like we are off to a good start in South Dakota.  Kyle and his crew are cutting some good wheat near Presho with six combines, AJ and his crew had 4 combines running yesterday for a job near Pierre and will have 6 combines today, and then Chad had 15 combines running west of Pierre and will have 20 running today.  There was a little shot of rain last night around Pierre so I'm told it will be a later start to the day today.

07/05/16 Cutting in Pierre

Good afternoon.  I hope you all had a great and safe 4th!  We had a nice celebration here in Hendricks and I even got Chad and Pam on the golf course one afternoon.

Chad's birthday on June 25th

If any of you have Chad's cell, text the old man a happy birthday wish on the Saturday the 25th!

06/16/16 Happy Birthday Claire!

Good morning.  Happy 14th birthday to Claire today!  Claire is Chad and Pam's second oldest daughter.  She and her older sister, Josie, have been working hard in Oklahoma the past couple weeks.

06/07/16 All combines are running

Good morning.  All of our combines are running near Haskell, TX and near Enid, OK.  Knock on wood, the 10 day forecasat looks nice and dry for cutting.

05/18/16 Heading to Texas!

Good morning.  Chad and Pam had a nice party at their house last night for the entire crew and their families as a good send off to the crew leaving for Texas today.  It won't be too many days and the first combines will be rolling!

04/15/16 Taxes Filed?

Good morning!  Well if you haven't filed your tax returns yet, you have until Monday the 18th!! :)

03/29/16 Maybe plant wheat?

Good afternoon!  We are getting geared up to get into the field for the small grains.  We may even get some in yet today before some predicted rains.

02/16/16 About time to greet you again!

Good afternoon and happy 2016.  It's about time I say hi again.
