12/31/15 Happy New Year!

Cheers to a GREAT 2016!!  Have a fun and safe weekend!!!

12/3/15 Winter is here!

Good morning.  Over the past couple of days, we received maybe +/- 6" of snow.  We pulled the trucks off the road for a day and the guys had a lot of fun sledding in the snow!

11/17/15 Still going strong on sunflowers

Good morning.  As everything is wrapped up around home, we still have a fleet of combines and trucks near Pierre, SD harvesting sunflowers.  Hopefully we can finish up out there within the next couple weeks!

10/23/15 A little rain

Good morning.  I cannot remember the last time it rained here!  The fall has been great for harvest (and golf!) but the rain that came in last night around home will halt harvest for a little bit.  I'm sure it's welcomed by the guys so they can maybe get a little time off.

10/01/15 Happy October 1st!

Good morning.  The bean harvest is going quickly around home!  Good beans and good weather.  While we wait for a few more beans to get ready, we are going to start going strong on our sunflowers today.  It will be interesting to see how those are!

09/18/15 Harvesting around home

Good morning.  We have had some GREAT fall weather here around home.  It does look like the chance of a little rain today but it shouldn't last long.  I know Jake and his crew up in Canada are battle rain and wet fields.  Looks frustrating by looking at some of the pictures I've seen.

09/02/15 Focus is ND and Canada

Good morning.  We are stil going strong in North Dakota and we have a good start in Canada already.  I was just talking to Jake yesterday who is heading up one the crews in Canada and he said we didn't start there until September 15th last year so we are bit ahead of schedule which is nice so we can get everyone back home a bit earlier to help will fall harvest around home.

08/17/15 In ND, MT and ID

Good morning.  The cutting continues to go well as we are in North Dakota, Montana and Idaho.  It sounds likes the crops are close to being ready in Canada as well!  It is going to be a very busy fall as we'll have have our own beans and sunflowers ready in about a month!

07/16/15 Harvest beginning in Pierre

Good morning.  Chad said they started with 5 combines in Pierre yesterday.  I don't think they'll be at maximum capacity until Monday though the way it sounds!

07/02/15 Going hard in Kansas

Good afternoon.  We are officially done in Oklahoma and Texas and now going strong in Kansas.  So, we are just plugging our way to the north!!

06/25/15 Happy Birthday Chad!

In case you talk to Chad today, wish him a happy birthday!  He turns 47 today!!

06/23/15 Dodging the rains

Good morning.  After a slow start to the run due to the rains, combines are covering acres.  I thinnk there's just a few days left in Oklahoma and then most will move to Kansas.  One crew actaully is starting in Kansas today and two other crews are still tackling acres in Texas.  The weather puts a little stress on everything but I know Chad and everyone else is doing their absolute best to finish up and start moving north!!

06/10/15 Going full speed

Good morning.  There's been two crews in Texas (near Haskell and Abilene) that have been cutting for over a week, we have a crew near El Reno, OK that has been cutting for a few days, a crew got going a couple days ago near Billings, OK and then just yesterday the crews started cutting near Enid, OK.  So, it's time to cut acres and acres of wheat!

05/28/15 Cutting in Texas!

Good afternoon!  After waiting many days for fields to dry up a bit, we have a crew finally cutting near Haskell, TX.  So, the harvest run has officially begun!

05/12/15 Got much needed rain!

Good afternoon!  Over the weekend, we received about an inch and a half of much needed rain!  It sounds like the South has received many rains lately too so we are hoping crops will be good for all.

05/01/15 Luke's 17th year employment anniversary!

Luke begin with OCF in May of 1998 so we celebrate his 17th year this month!  I don't know how he could put up with Chad for so long!!  Ha!!!!!  Kudos, Luke!!

04/24/15 Continuing to plant

Good afternoon!  With the nice weather, the guys have been working long hours in the fields planting.  We did get about a half inch of rain a few days ago but more would be nice soon.  But, for now, all is going well.

03/12/15 A taste of Spring

Good morning.  This week's weather has been incredible!  Some places near us could reach 70 degrees tomorrow!

03/03/15 March - In like a lion!!

Good morning.  My daughter just asked me the other day, "Dad, do you think we'll have any more snow days off from school?"  I said, "I'm pretty sure your bad weather days are over."  Well, I was wrong.  It is snowing now, we are supposed to get 4-8", and the winds are supposed to pick up to 30 mph.  School has been called off.

01/21/15 More snow

Good morning.  Not a whole lot to report here at OCF.  The guys are on schedule in the shop as they get all the equipment ready for 2015 and we have a few guys on the road picking up some new combines out of Moline, IL.  We are continuing to wrap up our books for 2014 here in the office as well.  I'm looking forward to spring golf already!

01/12/15 Beginning the new year COLD!

Happy New Year!  We started the New Year hear in SW Minnesota with brutally cold temperatures.  I think tonight's windchill is supposed to be near 30 below.  Brrr.
